I offer my salutations to the Deepam (lamp) at twilight to eradicate all my sorrows

The essence of worldly existence; whose garland is the king of serpents;
Dwelling always in the heart of the lotus;
I bow before Shiva and Shakti (Goddess Parvati)

Urvaarukamiva Bandhanaan
Mrtyormukshiya Maamrtaat ||
Om, We worship the three-eyes one (Lord Shiva),
Who is fragrant and nourishes all beings
May He liberate us from the fear of death, for the sake of immortality;
Like a ripe cucumber that is severed from the bond of the creeper

भस्माङ्गरागाय महेश्वराय ।
नित्याय शुद्धाय दिगम्बराय
तस्मै नकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥१॥
Nagendrahaaraya Trilochanaaya
Bhasmangaraagaya Maheshwaraaya
Nithyaaya Shuddhaaya Digambaraaya
Tasmai Nakaaraaya Nama Shivaaya
Who wears the king of serpents as His garland and has three eyes;
Whose body is smeared with Bhasma (sacred ash) and is the greatest of Gods;
Who is eternal, pure and wears the sky/ directions as His clothes;
I salute Shiva, represented by the syllable 'Na', that is the first syllable of the Panchakshara (5-lettered) mantra 'NaMaShiVaaYa'
मन्दाकिनीसलिलचन्दनचर्चिताय
नन्दीश्वरप्रमथनाथमहेश्वराय ।
मन्दारपुष्पबहुपुष्पसुपूजिताय

Nandeeshwaraayapramadhanaadhamaheshwaraaya
Mandaarapushpabahupushpasupoojithaaya

Who is worshipped with water from the river Mandaakini; Who is smeared with sandal paste;
Who has Nandi as his chieftain;
Who is worshipped with Mandaara and many other flowers;
I salute Shiva, represented by the syllable 'Ma', that is the second syllable of the Panchakshara (5-lettered) mantra 'NaMaShiVaaYa'

सूर्याय दक्षाध्वरनाशकाय ।

Suryaaya Dakshadhwaranashakaaya
Srineelakantaaya Vrishadhwajaaya

Who is auspicious and is like the newly risen sun causing the lotus-face of Gauri (Devi Parvati) to bloom;
Who is the destroyer of the sacrifice (Yajna) of Daksha;
Who has a blue throat and the bull as Hid emblem;
I salute Shiva, represented by the syllable 'Shi', that is the third syllable of the Panchakshara (5-lettered) mantra 'NaMaShiVaaYa'
वशिष्ठकुम्भोद्भवगौतमार्यमूनीन्द्रदेवार्चितशेखराय ।
चन्द्रार्कवैश्वानरलोचनाय

Vasishtakumbhodhbhavagautamaadimuneendradevaarchitashekharaaya
Chandraarkavaishwaanaralochanaaya
Tasmai Vakaaraaya Nama Shivaaya
Who is worshipped by the best and most respected sages like Vasishta, Agastya, Gautama and by other Gods; Who is the crown of the universe;
Who has Chandra (moon), Surya (sun) and Agni (fire) as His three eyes;
यज्ञस्वरूपाय जटाधराय
पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय ।
दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय
तस्मै यकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥५॥
Yajnaswaroopaaya Jataadharaaya
Pinaakahasthaaya Sanaathanaaya
Divyaaya Devaya Digambaraaya
Tasmai Yakaaraaya Nama Shivaya
Who is the embodiment of Yajna (sacrifice) and has matted hair;
Who has the trident in His hand and is eternal;
Who is divine; Who is the shining one and Has the four directions as His clothes;
I salute Shiva, represented by the syllable 'Ya', that is the fifth syllable of the Panchakshara (5-lettered) mantra 'NaMaShiVaaYa'
पञ्चाक्षरमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेत् शिवसन्निधौ।
शिवलोकमावाप्नोति शिवेन सह मोदते ॥६॥
Panchaaksharamidham Punyam Yah Padeth Shivasannidhau
Shivalokamavaapnothi Shivena Saha Modathe
One who recites this holy Panchakshara near the Shiva linga
would attain the abode of Shiva and enjoy His bliss
